May is the month of Mothers.
Mexican Mother’s Day is every May 10, the U.S. celebrates it on the second Sunday of May, and France decides to finish the National Month of Days Off with a fête for their mothers.
While Mother’s Day cards and brunches are popular in the U.S. (or at least my neck of the woods, San Diego), France usually celebrates it with a big family dinner. All nationalities celebrate it by giving gifts, big and small, to our wonderful moms! Here are a few gifts that are popular ideas from Paris. FYI, these gifts are not exclusively for Mother’s Day 😉
In honor of my beautiful mother, here are a few pictures of her favorite part of Paris, Montmartre.
I’ve also included our family’s favorite rendition of “Las Mañanitas,” or the Mexican “Happy Birthday” song, sung by the legendary Mexican singer and actor, Pedro Infante. The birthday boy or girl in our family would always wake up to this, so Mami:
