Hello, everyone! I’m writing to you from San Diego, California today, where I am visiting my family. So much has happened these last few months, and I will be sharing the adventures with you as I also redesign the blog. To kick off these exciting changes, I’ve decided to start a series called “Three of My Favorite Things.” For the inaugural post, I’ve chosen weddings, watches, and white roses.

Weddings

When I look at these rings, I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. I still can’t believe that I am married to the man of my dreams! This week, I’ve been organizing the pictures on my computer, going back to when I first arrived in Paris. I was able to revisit the steps leading up to my meeting DM and relive our courtship, our many trips together, and all of the exciting adventures leading up to our engagement and wedding. It’s true; when you know, you know. And what a beautiful journey it has been!

Our wedding will have its own post later (there are about 2000 photos to edit!), but what I will say is that it was one of the happiest days of my life. The incredible thing about this type of celebration is the tangible and overwhelming amount of love, support, and happiness that fills the room. I don’t think I have ever smiled more than on that day. As my friend Gemma says, I was “feeling all the feelings.” To experience all of these emotions that you go through on your wedding day is one of the reasons that we are alive.

Daniel Wellington Watches

I have wanted a leather strap watch for ages, waiting for the right one to come along. The few that I liked always had an extra something that didn’t fit the image I had in my head. But then, Daniel Wellington watches came along, thanks to Instagram, and swept me off my feet. I knew that their Classic St. Mawes Lady in silver was the one for me.

I adore its sleek design, the story behind the company, and the elegance of wearing a watch. I love the larger face with simple silver details, and the rich dark brown of the leather strap is the epitome of classic. These are the watches that I imagine Audrey Hepburn, Diana Vreeland, and Jackie Kennedy would have loved and worn. I couldn’t be happier with the watch, and I’m sure you would be, too!

Exciting news!

White Roses

Walking down the aisle toward my husband holding my bouquet of white roses, ranunculus, and tulips fulfilled all of my wedding day dreams. I’ve always had a preference for roses of any color, given my last name, and for a few years now, I’ve had a tendency to buy white ones for my home. My mother-in-law also mentioned the important role the rose has for English people. Calling a girl an “English rose” is one of the highest compliments you can pay her, meaning that she is naturally beautiful, a classic beauty with a lovely complexion, and a traditionally English look about her. The rose is also the national flower of England, which is featured prominently on the English team’s rugby jerseys. Overall, roses are of great significance to both of us, which is why they, of course, had to be in my wedding bouquet.
