The designs of Oscar de la Renta are stunningly feminine, with eye-catching colors and soft silhouettes. They compliment a woman’s figure. They are ageless and classic. For me, Oscar de la Renta is elegance defined.
The variety of materials in his spring/summer 2014 collection, especially those gorgeous lace overlays and bright patterns, make it an extremely dynamic display of dresses. I adore the Spanish flair, as well as those layers upon layers of tulle – divine! What I admire about Oscar de la Renta is how unlike other designers whose angle is in part for shock value, he isn’t afraid of simplicity. But with the addition of a discreet detail, like an embroidered flower, he somehow turns a dress from pretty to exquisite.
I look forward to seeing them on the red carpet. Diane Kruger, Kerry Washington, and Olivia Palermo are my bets for the stars who will wear these first. Though I have to admit, I have already begun to imagine myself wearing his dresses in different scenarios: the south of France, a lunch in Paris, at the opera, a performance, the races in England, a gala, or an evening cocktail event. A girl can dream!
Summary: Oscar de la Renta’s collection is the perfect display of fashion being art.
