Photographing the Opera | Palais Garnier

Paris in the sunshine is one of the most beautiful sights in the world.

As an aspiring opera singer and mezzo soprano, I am always inspired by the Opera Garnier. When Claire suggested a trip there to check out some spots for engagement and wedding shoots, I was more than happy to join her. She took some fun pictures, one of which you’ll see below (more to come soon!), and we also ventured into the Opera gift shop.

Le Ballet de l’Opéra is celebrating its 300th anniversary, so there is a gorgeous exposition on the history of the ballet in the Bibliothèque-musée de l’Opéra. Though we didn’t have time to meander upstairs, I am really looking forward to seeing it later this month. We browsed through the elegant boutique, and here are a few things I found.

We also stopped by the “Play Me, I’m Yours” piano that is on the hall’s restaurant, L’Opera, terrace. A bit rusty on the piano skills, I managed to play one of my favorite pieces “Comptine d’une autre été” by Yann Tierson, which you’ll recognize from the Amélie soundtrack. It felt amazing to play again!

Hope you enjoy these pictures of my favorite building in the world. Have a wonderful weekend!
