Wearable Art | Kasia Dietz & Sugar Daze

I had wanted to do a bag painting workshop with Kasia Dietz for months!

As soon as I saw her announce the dates for the next workshops, I quickly booked my spot. Not knowing what exactly to expect but excited to make my own wearable art, I arrived at Cat Beurnier’s Sugar Daze cupcake shop in the 9th with my painting smock in hand. Also at the workshop were some of the most fun expats around: Suzanne from Square Modern, Lisa from Ella Coquine, and Kristen from The Kale Project, whom I had the pleasure of meeting that day.

Kasia is a gem. Patient, helpful, and organized, she helped us through our bag projects. Since my hand does not translate the image I have in my brain, that was essential! PatriciaParisienne doesn’t officially have a logo yet, but I wanted a bag that would represent the blog in some way. Kasia had some beautiful Eiffel Tower images, one of which we ended up using.

After tracing, cutting, and tracing, we were ready for a cupcake break! Cat’s cupcakes all look amazing, so it was hard to choose just one. My Oreo cupcake was delicious, a real cupcake in Paris. With that sugar burst of energy, we moved onto the painting portion of the morning.

The workshop was so much fun! We had a great time chatting and painting to the streamed American radio. In the end, we all admired our finished bags.  Suzanne’s bag look screen printed, Lisa’s original pink that she mixed looked gorgeous, and Kristen’s logo was made for the canvas tote. Success!

Thank you to Cat for letting us use her beautiful shop that morning, and to Kasia for such a wonderful experience. Make sure to check her site and Facebook page for the next dates!

Kasia Dietz Bags

One of the many reasons I love Kasia’s bags is because they are art, “wearable art,” as she calls it. The bags are well-made with beautiful fabrics, and they are reversible, which is a major plus in my book. Extremely well-traveled (check out her blog to read more), Kasia has created a line of products that reflect her experiences and adventures around the world. The collection includes handbags, totes, clutches, and purses. You’ll want to order everything!

  2. It was so nice meeting you in real life, Patricia! One of the perks of hosting Kasia’s workshops is meeting so many wonderful, creative people here in Paris and those that come from further afield. Thanks for the shout out! You guys did a great job with your bags!
