Sunday Stroll in the Bois de Vincennes

Happy Sunday, darlings!

The weather is absolutely gorgeous here in Paris today! Hope everyone has an equally lovely Sunday. This morning, my sister and I went for a walk in the nearby Bois de Vincennes, the woods near chez nous.

It’s gorgeous every season of the year, but it is something else during the summer. The apartment buildings lining the park  are beautiful Haussmannian buildings; their elegant facades and handsome doors are highlighted by the rays of sun. The lake glimmers under the light, and there are ducks gliding across the surface. It’s picturesque and perfect. And it makes for a really nice place to run, walk, play tennis, horseback ride, and have fun with your family and friends.

I love that it’s just a few minutes from my house, and it was so nice to have some time with my sister. My niece will be arriving any day now; cannot wait!

Wishing everyone a wonderful day,

The Soldes are here!

Today is the first day of the summer sales! Many stores opened at a very-early-for-Paris 8 a.m. this morning, with lines forming in front of the stores hours prior. While this is common in the US, in France it is … Continue reading

It’s Pimm’s O’Clock!

Hello darlings!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you’ve seen that my surroundings changed these past few days. I switched Haussmann for the beach and sun!

I flew to the south of France via England and enjoyed an absolutely gorgeous day there. One of the best times to visit the home of Kate Middleton is when the weather begins to warm up, allowing for evening drinks on pub terraces and jumper-less outings. Summer in the UK means a few things: the return of shorts and summer dresses, outdoor tanning, barbecues, music festivals, Wimbledon, and, of course, Pimm’s.

pimm's england summer drink classic cocktail recipe

Pimm’s, the UK’s favorite summer drink, is delicious. Along with champagne, it is the staple drink at Wimbledon, the Henley Royal Regatta, and the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, as well as a fixture at polo matches. The gin and fruit-based cocktail drink is a true English tradition.

If you have the pleasure of visiting England this summer, make sure to enjoy a glass (or pitcher) of Pimm’s!

Les Caves de Reuilly

I love wine bars.

Mmm, actually, I love wine bars. It’s so much fun to explore and to taste all different types of vino. Thanks to the wonderful dégustations I’ve attended, I’ve discovered that there is more to life than Bordeaux.  As it turns out, white wines are actually quite enjoyable.

On a warm summery night, what better way to wind down than with a lovely friend and some fantastic wine?

Wednesday Reads & Motivation

Hello darlings!

This Wednesday is rush, rush, rush, but c’est la vie 🙂 I also have a lot of things that I am excited to share with you, as well as a few projects, but those will hopefully come in the next few weeks.

Here are some mid-week reads and inspiration. Enjoy!

1. Vogue

I love Vogue! The ones I read most often are US Vogue, British Vogue and, of course, the French Vogue. They all have features that I love. For the US Vogue, I adore “5 Days, 5 Looks, 1 Girl.” A schoolmate of mine, Kelly Connor, had her series done a while back, and the latest installment of the series features Grace Fuller, a Vogue Fashion Assistant. Their outfits are amazing!

British Vogue does a series called “Today I am wearing” where they follow a celebrity or personality and their daily ensembles for a month. I’m a huge fan of Mira Duma, editor of Buro 24/7, and when I saw that she is the featured personality for June, I got so excited! Here’s the link, so you can see what the incredibly fashionable Duma rocks on a daily basis.

2. Roland Garros

The handsome Englishman and I went to Roland Garros, the French Tennis Open, this past weekend. It was so much fun! Check back later this week for the full blog post about it, but here’s a sneak peek! You can also follow my adventures on Instagram, where I post multiple pictures daily of what I see and what Paris is up to at any given moment.

Paris is offering the city a chance to watch the matches in the center of the city. Here are the details.

3. Rachel Khoo

I just adore Rachel Khoo! Her posts are so cheery, and her recipes are amazing! She inspires me to cook in my little Paris kitchen, which is no small feat. For a bit of daily sunshine, head over to her site.

4. Motivation

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what exactly I want to do with my life, where I want to go, where I see myself, pretty much all of the questions that you ask yourself at 25. I found my conclusion via Instagram, and I will share it with you.

Do what you love

“Do what you love.” It’s not groundbreaking in any way but simply a reminder. It’s a very romantic thought, and I love it. When you love doing something, suddenly “work” isn’t the I-hate-my-job feel but instead a “let’s do it!” and roll-up-your-sleeves-excitedly type of feeling.

At least that’s what I am feeling now. I lovelovelovelovelovelove-cannotwriteitenoughtimes- LOVE blogging. It makes me so happy to put together a post about an experience I had and to interact with readers and other bloggers. It is creativity, research, effort, and “work” – but it is so much fun. Even when I sit at the computers for hours and write and delete and write and delete, I couldn’t be happier. Here’s to doing what you love!

Etudes Studio Pop-Up Store Launch Party

A seriously cool pop-up is now open in the Haut Marais.

Etudes Studio, a male clothing line, has its first pop-up studio in Paris from June 1 – 30, 2013 in the Haut Marais. On display is their Etudes N°2 Spring/Summer collection, with some crazy cool accessories for men.

The store was packed, spilling out onto the sidewalk and areas around it. Gallia Paris beer, an absinthe-infused beer, was the drink of preference for the launch party, as all the hipsters and who’s-who of Paris came out to celebrate the opening on Saturday night. Designed by the Swiss design team, Terrazzo Project, the modern interior of the store was the perfect backdrop for the collection.

Be sure to check it out while it’s in town!
